This is the Doctor in his orange spacesuit from Series 2 episodes “The Impossible Planet” and ‘The Satan Pit’.

The doctor and Ida descend down a very deep shaft via cable only to run out of line. Curiosity getting the better of him the Doctor cuts his line and free-falls to the bottom to come face to face with the beast himself!
